Château de la Tour is a large bourgeois building dating from the 19th C and based in La Tour-de-Salvagny, close to the Lyon Vert casino. Renamed Météor Château de la Tour since it was taken over by Météor, a group that specialises in property restoration projects and the management of tourist resorts, the restaurant is intent on penetrating the seminar and business meeting market.
In order to make its mark , its general manager Éric Surco is highlighting all the benefits of the property. It boasts seven rooms, between 18 and 130 m2 that are set up to receive groups of up to 120 people, and an excellent restaurant headed up by Luc Fischer, an experienced chef who has worked in numerous places both in France and abroad.
As we don’t have any rooms available, we just offer catering and venue hire for cocktail parties and seminars , explains the manager. Our aim is to match our high standards to the expectations of our clients and to develop the incentive side of our activity in order to ensure that companies make up half of our business .
To achieve its aims, the Météor group relies on the property’s location close to Lyon and on its beautiful setting. The Château has 1.8 hectares of grounds where clients can enjoy archery, volleyball, badminton, petanque and boule lyonnaise .
And the general manager also knows that he can count on several hotels in the vicinity for accommodation if his clients have decided to organise their meeting over a period of several days. Confirming that he is currently undertaking an audit to decide with whom to work for specialist services such as leisure activities for seminar free time, he also plans to promote the venue beyond the limits of western Lyon with its heavy concentration of pharmaceutical labs.
His main argument, in addition to the property’s own excellent facilities and the fact that it is open seven days a week, is economic: a study day including room hire, refreshment breaks and lunch costs just 61 €.
