Bocafina, culinary-based events in Talloires

Originally from Ireland, Joyce Lamy fell in love with Annecy and its lake which is why she decided to set up her event management agency, Bocafina, in Talloires. She offers culinary workshops that specialise in cookery courses led by professional chefs from the Haute-Savoie. Available for groups of up to 20 people.

Having spent two decades working for international businesses such as ATT and Sisco Systems, Joyce Lamy has settled in Talloires where she has recently opened Bocafina, a quirky gastronomy-based events agency. “l offer a cookery workshop where I can host groups of between eight and 20 people, increasing, hopefully, to 30 delegates sometime in 2012. I also have private individuals on the books and I use professional chefs to lead the courses, including Frédéric Fouquet, former head chef at the Abbaye de Talloires, Sébastien Laurent, a pastry chef from Thonon, Christophe Le Digol, the executive chef at Père Bise, Charly Charrier, chef and sommelier at the Abbaye de Talloires, chef François Chatelain and Yamika Tokita, who used to work at the Clos des Sens in Annecy-le-Vieux, before setting up a private chefs’ business. Bocafina is a unique sort of company located in a place that is equally special, overlooking the lake and bay of Talloires. Its décor and ambience is very modern and I’m mainly targeting business to business projects”.

Companies are able to organise their meetings on site (up to 14 people) followed by a team-building exercise based on cooking and wine. Tailor-made cookery courses work out at 120 € per delegate and a number of firms have already used the services of Joyce Lamy, notably L’Oréal for a meeting at Bocafina for some of its national sales force, with accommodation at the Abbaye. Their programme involved both cookery and wine courses. A group of Gaggenau household appliance retailers from the Haute-Savoie experienced much the same, with a two-hour meeting, a cookery lesson from Christophe Le Digol followed by a wine tasting and activity.

For anyone interested in organising their own event in Talloires, whether for a seminar or an incentive, it is worth noting that room hire and a refreshment break will cost 40 € per participant. For a one day event, the cost rises to 60 € per person inclusive of two refreshment breaks and a buffet lunch. Last, but not least, a cookery lesson lasting between one and a half to five hours costs 50 to 145 € and a two-hour wine course works out at 65 €.

Bocafina offers a great opportunity to try out this unusual concept, which has also attracted the attention of various events organisers on behalf of their own clients.
